ID Finder: Questions & Answers
What is a Twitter (X) user ID?
Every account has a permanent numeric ID assigned at creation — for example, @jack is 12. Unlike the @username, the ID never changes, which is why the X API, ad platforms, bots, and most integrations identify accounts by ID instead of handle.
How do I find a Twitter user ID from a username?
Enter the @username (or paste the profile link) in the finder above and press Find ID. The numeric ID appears instantly with a copy button — no login, no API key needed.
Why do tools ask for the ID instead of the @username?
Because usernames can be changed or recycled. If you track an account by handle and the person renames, you lose them; the numeric ID follows the account forever. Any serious integration stores IDs.
Can I convert an ID back to a username?
Yes — open x.com/i/user/THE_ID in your browser and X redirects you to the current profile behind that ID. That trick also reveals who owns an ID after a rename.
